About Me

Please allow me a few minutes of your time to tell you about me.

My name is Paul Stone & I live in a village called Lovedean in Hampshire, UK from which the name of my website originates. The village is situated 12 miles north of Portsmouth, a city located in the centre of the south coast of England.

In the early 1500’s the area now known as Lovedean was a small part of the parishes of Catherington & Blendworth in southeast Hampshire. In 1511 George Earl of Shrewsbury who had owned the parishes had a manor house at Chalton situated in the same parishes. On the death of George’s brother & heir Thomas, the tenements were divided between Thomas’ four sisters, three of which sold their inheritance to a Richard Norton. Richard died in 1584 and his son Anthony became heir to certain lands & tenements in Catherington. In 1594 Anthony granted three quarters of the manor of Catherington to his sister Isabel Norton. Isabel married Thomas Lovedean of East Meon & as a result the manor of Catherington became the manor of Lovedean.

I am a self taught amateur photographer with a passion for landscape photography. I mainly shoot landscapes within the southern halves of Dorset, Hampshire, East & West Sussex & the Isle of Wight. A large proportion of my landscapes include water, as being born on the Isle of Wight surrounded by water & having a birth sign of Pisces I really love the sea, lakes, ponds & rivers.

I also love to teach the basics of photography to anyone who cares to engage me to do so for a very moderate fee. For details please go to Courses.

I am also the leader of the Horndean U3A (University of the Third Age) photographic group who meet once a month to discuss all elements of photography, undertake photographic projects & weather permitting go on photographic shoots together.

I was a member of the Solent Camera Club based in Southsea in Hampshire for 3 years and won several competitions and an annual trophy.
At the beginning of the 2009/2010 club season I decided I would move to Horndean Camera Club in Hampshire where I continue to get 10 out of 10 for a lot of my photos entered into club competitions.
In 2010 I won Print League Trophy (this being won by obtaining the highest number of points over 6 competitions).
